Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ~Colossians 3:16

Music can inspire your small group meeting and be a way to lead your group to prayer. Sometimes, a simple a capella hymn led by one of the group members is enough to set the tone. Other times, ending our session with a music video by one of the many talented Christian worship leaders allows us to have a moment of quiet, individual worship and prayer.

Before you show a worship music video or select a song to be sung in your small group, consider these questions:

  1. Have you prayed about which song to include?
  2. Are the lyrics of the song consistent with scripture?
  3. If you are going to ask the group to sing, is the music range comfortable for the average singer? In other words, are the notes too high or too low?
  4. Do you have a back-up plan if the technology doesn’t work?

Occasionally, I’ll post a music video or collection of songs here on this website as a resource for small group leaders who are searching for music to use in a small group session. Consider bookmarking these posts or creating your own YouTube channel where you can save inspiring music videos.

This worship song by Charles Billingsley, Guy Penrod, Michael O’Brien, and Travis Cottrell is wonderful. I hope your small group enjoys this beautiful song as it is sung by beautiful voices.
